GAZ-A is a Soviet passenger car from the interwar period and World War II. The first copies of this vehicle appeared in the early 1930s, and serial production continued in 1932-1936. Approximately 42,000 cars of this type were produced in its course. The drive was provided by a single 4-cylinder engine with a power of 40 HP.

The GAZ-A was the first mass-produced passenger car in the Soviet Union. It was also a license-free copy of the Ford A car. The basic production version was a 4-door phaeton, but there were also several development versions. One of the more unusual was the GAZ-AA truck, which was developed on the same frame and using the same engine as the GAZ-A. The GAZ-6 model was also created, i.e. a car intended to act as an ambulance or a taxi. However, very limited quantities of this model were built. A very unusual development was the D-8 armored car, produced in small numbers, which was also built on the GAZ-A chassis. GAZ-M1 turned out to be the successor of the GAZ-A car.
