The Mil Mi-28N "Night Hunter" (Russian: *Nochnoy Okhotnik*; NATO reporting name: Havoc-B) is a Russian two-seat attack helicopter. Its primary roles include engaging tanks and other ground targets, as well as providing fire support for friendly forces—including during night operations.

The two crew members are seated in tandem: the weapons operator in the front, and the pilot positioned higher up behind them. Key design features include an armored cockpit, two side-mounted engines, a five-blade main rotor, and an X-shaped tail rotor.

Armament and Sensors

  • 30mm 2A42 autocannon mounted in a movable turret beneath the nose.
  • Ataka-family anti-tank guided missiles for engaging armored vehicles.
  • Unguided rockets carried on side-mounted weapon stations.
  • Thermal imaging and TV-based targeting systems, along with a laser rangefinder, for target acquisition and weapon employment by day and night.

The design incorporates an armored cockpit, protected critical components, and a structure engineered for crew survivability in the event of enemy fire or hard landings.
